JEvents Administration E-mail

To manage your JEvents calendar, first log in to the administrator area using your log in and password. Typically this is www.yoursite.com/administrator

Under "Components" click the "JEvents" link. See image below:

This will take you to the control panel where you can add events, categories, or even calendars.

To add a Category

Categories are how you events are organized. You can make as many categories as you want and call them whatever you want, such as "evening classes, group training, nightclub gigs," etc.

  1. After loging in and navigating you your JEvents control panel, click "Manage Categories."

  2. Your Cateogies will show up here. Each website will be different. To add a new category, select "New" in the upper right.

  3. Type in what you want to name your category in the "Title" box.
  4. To help your visitors navigate through your events easier, you can color-code each category. A color picker will appear when you click "Color Picker." Select the color you want. It automatically updates.

  5. Access Level: Usually set for "Public" to allow access to everyone.
  6. Be sure to click "Save" to accept your new category.

To add an event

  1. Click "Manage Events"
  2. If this is the first time you've added an event, you will not see any events. Click "New"

  3. Type the name of the event in "Subject"
  4. Select the Event Creator: You don't have to, but if you have several people creating events, you may want to define who is creating what.
  5. Select a category. These categories need to be created first before you select one. If you have not created a category first, just select one (you can always change this later) Categories will show up on your page (if you configure them to) You can color code different categories and allow visitors to quickly find the events they are looking for.
  6. In the large text block titled "Activity" you can write a detailed description of the event. You can add pictures and links to this area.
  7. Fill in the Location, Contact and any Extra Info you want.
  8. Next, click the "Calendar" tab across the top. You need to specify when the event is.

  9. This section is fairly self-explanatory. You can click the small calendar icon to bring up a calendar to make selection of future dates easier.
  10. When you're done, be sure to click "Save" in the upper right corner.
